Allergic and Severe Asthma
Asthma is a condition that causes airways to become inflamed and cause respiratory side effects such as shortness of breath and wheezing.
Severe Asthma with eosinophilic phenotype: airways become inflamed due to having too many eosinophils, which are white blood cells that fight infection. As a result airways narrow and produce extra mucus.
Allergic Asthma: airborne allergens like pet dander or dust mites are breathed in and in response the body makes a type of antibody called IgE. IgE attaches to allergen and the inflammatory cells, releasing substances that inflame airways and lead to asthma symptoms.
